In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the re-election was a historic endorsement of Adeniyi’s vision and the ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Customs Service.
Tinubu noted that his recent decision to extend Adeniyi’s tenure as Comptroller-General was informed by the need to sustain the transformation already taking place within the Service.
According to the President, the overwhelming support Adeniyi received from customs administrations around the world validates the reforms introduced under his leadership, including efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, modernise customs operations and align the Nigeria Customs Service with international best practices.
He said the Customs Service has recorded remarkable progress in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, border security, stakeholder engagement and the deployment of technology-driven solutions.
Tinubu particularly highlighted the introduction of B’Odogwu, Nigeria’s indigenous customs clearance platform, describing it as a major innovation that has simplified cargo clearance, reduced dependence on foreign technology, improved transparency and enhanced operational efficiency.

He said the platform also supports the Federal Government’s drive to build a competitive, technology-driven economy.
The President further commended the implementation of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme, the expansion of non-intrusive cargo inspection technology, stronger collaboration among government agencies and continued compliance with global customs standards.
Tinubu described Adeniyi’s re-election as both a personal achievement and a recognition of Nigeria’s increasing prominence in international customs administration.
He said the Customs boss has demonstrated bold leadership by introducing reforms that have strengthened border security, improved revenue collection, facilitated legitimate trade and modernised customs operations through homegrown innovations.
The President expressed confidence that Adeniyi’s second term as Chairperson of the WCO Council would further promote international cooperation, strengthen secure and efficient global trade, and enhance Nigeria’s standing within the global customs community.
Tinubu also wished the Customs Comptroller-General continued wisdom, strength and success as he combines his international responsibilities with the ongoing transformation of the Nigeria Customs Service.
