- FIFA rejected France’s appeal against Michael Olise’s yellow card
- Olise now risks suspension if booked against Morocco
- Deschamps also said Aurelien Tchouameni is recovering from injury
France head coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that FIFA has rejected the team’s appeal against the yellow card shown to Michael Olise during France’s World Cup round-of-16 victory over Paraguay.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Deschamps disclosed the decision on Wednesday while speaking to reporters in Foxborough ahead of France’s quarter-final encounter with Morocco at Gillette Stadium.

According to the France manager, FIFA informed the team that the caution issued to Olise would remain on his disciplinary record.

“The yellow card has not changed. We were notified by FIFA this morning, it has been maintained,” Deschamps said.
Olise received the booking late in France’s tense encounter with Paraguay following an altercation with Matias Galarza.
Television replays appeared to show minimal contact between the two players. The Bayern Munich winger was seen placing a finger in front of his mouth before Galarza fell to the ground, alleging he had been struck in the face.
With FIFA declining to overturn the booking, Olise now faces the risk of suspension. Another yellow card in Friday’s quarter-final against Morocco would rule him out of a possible semi-final against either Spain or Belgium.
France could also lose Bradley Barcola and Manu Kone for the last four should either player receive another caution, as both were booked during the Paraguay match.

Deschamps also provided an update on midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who missed the round-of-16 fixture because of a thigh injury.
The coach said the Real Madrid midfielder had made progress in his recovery and could return to training, although a final decision on his availability would depend on his condition.
“Aurelien is doing better. I can’t say more than that. He will maybe take part in training today, but I will need to see. The others are all available,” Deschamps added.
