The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man in his mid-30s for allegedly stabbing his father, retired pilot Captain David Nwoke, to death at their residence in Oro Ekpo Estate, Ada George, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident, which occurred on July 4, 2026, reportedly threw residents of the estate into shock.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said neighbours responded to a distress call from the estate’s security personnel at about 10:00 a.m. and found the victim lying in a pool of blood.
According to the resident, the estate management immediately alerted the police, who arrested the suspect and evacuated the deceased’s body to a morgue.
Residents alleged that the suspect had previously assaulted his father and became enraged after the retired pilot reportedly decided to sell one of his properties.
“He attacked his father from upstairs. The deceased came downstairs bleeding, but the suspect followed him and allegedly stabbed him repeatedly until he died,” the source claimed.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Karibo, said the suspect is in police custody while investigations continue.
Karibo assured that the command is carrying out a thorough investigation and would ensure that justice is served.
