Nigeria’s Super Falcons will take on Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses on Sunday in a high-stakes quarter-final clash at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the encounter will be Nigeria’s first match outside Rabat in this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, as the defending champions look to continue their title defence.

The Falcons endured a difficult opening to their campaign, suffering a 3-2 defeat to Malawi before recovering with victories over Zambia and Egypt. Their 6-2 win against Egypt secured their passage to the knockout stage, although they finished second in Group C.
The team’s performances have raised questions about whether Nigeria can reproduce the form that helped them claim the previous WAFCON title. The quarter-final now provides an opportunity for the players to respond when the margin for error becomes much smaller.
Head coach Justine Madugu has urged his players to learn from their group-stage mistakes and approach the knockout round with greater concentration.
He stressed that opponents at this stage are capable of punishing even small errors, making discipline and composure essential against Cameroon.
The match also carries added significance because qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil is at stake.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade has expressed the team’s determination to secure the World Cup ticket while continuing their pursuit of another continental title.
Nigeria and Cameroon have developed one of the biggest rivalries in African women’s football, with their meetings regularly producing closely fought encounters.
The Falcons also have a strong record against Cameroon in the WAFCON. However, recent meetings have shown that the Indomitable Lionesses remain capable of causing problems, making Sunday’s encounter another stern test for the Nigerian side.
With a semi-final place and World Cup qualification both within reach, the Super Falcons will need to combine their attacking quality with greater defensive discipline if they are to overcome Cameroon in Casablanca.
