The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Akogun Wale Anomo, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new ultra-modern two-storey Administrative Building at the council secretariat, describing the project as another milestone in his administration’s drive to strengthen governance and improve public service delivery.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the proposed administrative complex, expected to be completed within 12 months, is designed to address office accommodation challenges while providing a modern and efficient working environment for political office holders and senior management staff.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Anomo said the project represents more than the construction of another government building, stressing that it is a strategic investment in institutional development and effective governance.
“As governance continues to evolve and the demands of effective service delivery increase, it has become necessary to provide adequate office accommodation for our political appointees and senior officials. This project is not merely about constructing another building; it is about creating an enabling environment that will enhance productivity, coordination and efficient service delivery to our people,” he said.
The chairman noted that his administration inherited the existing administrative block built by his predecessor, Hon. Samsondeen Onanuga, and has since expanded the council’s infrastructure with the construction of a modern Legislative Building equipped with offices for councillors and a multipurpose hall.
He explained that the appointment of Supervisory Councillors, Special Advisers and other political appointees had increased the demand for office space, making the new administrative complex a necessity.
According to him, the project aligns with his administration’s vision of building enduring institutions capable of supporting the developmental aspirations of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
Dr. Anomo also charged the contractor to adhere strictly to approved specifications, maintain quality standards, complete the project within the agreed timeline and ensure the safety of workers throughout the construction period.
“I also encourage the contractor to patronise artisans and suppliers within our host communities where possible, so that the economic benefits of this project will extend beyond the construction site and positively impact our local economy,” he added.
Earlier, the Project Manager, Mr. Onabamiro Tunji, gave an overview of the proposed facility, describing it as a state-of-the-art administrative complex designed to improve operational efficiency within the council.
He disclosed that the building will feature an Executive Council Chamber, a ground-floor meeting room, a gallery, a waiting lounge, an underground car park and 32 fully equipped offices for Supervisors, Special Advisers and other key council officials.
“The project has been carefully designed to provide a functional and conducive working environment, and we are committed to delivering it within the stipulated 12-month period without compromising quality,” he assured.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Wittu Ajenifuja, commended Dr. Anomo for what he described as his outstanding leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
“This administration has continued to demonstrate its commitment to development through impactful projects. We remain confident that this new administrative building will further strengthen governance and service delivery in our council,” he said.
Ajenifuja also urged eligible residents who were yet to register to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, emphasising that greater civic participation would further strengthen democratic governance.
The groundbreaking ceremony attracted APC leaders, councillors, members of the legislative arm, the Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, the Council Manager, Mr. Awobajo Sunday, members of the management team, party faithful and other stakeholders.
The event concluded with prayers for the successful completion of the project, a site inspection and the symbolic turning of the first sod by the Executive Chairman and other dignitaries, formally signalling the commencement of construction.
