Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as a work-free day for public servants in the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.

The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, announced the decision in a statement on Monday, noting that the approval was communicated through a circular issued by the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina.
Aina said the holiday was granted to give public workers enough time to complete the PVC collection process and participate actively in the electoral process.
The governor encouraged eligible voters who have not yet obtained their voter cards to visit designated collection points promptly, stressing that citizens’ participation remains vital in determining the leadership and direction of the state.
“Your vote is your power. Your voter card is your access to the ballot paper and, by extension, the ballot box,” Adeleke said.
However, the work-free day does not apply to workers providing essential services, including medical personnel and security agencies. Those affected were advised to make necessary arrangements to maintain uninterrupted services.
The governor urged all registered voters in Osun to take advantage of the opportunity and ensure they are fully prepared for upcoming elections.
