The Lagos State Chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has identified Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the most suitable presidential candidate for the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in an official statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, APM State Publicity Secretary Ayodele Kazeem explained that the party’s backing is rooted in Makinde’s demonstrated leadership capacity, fiscal responsibility, and nationwide political acceptability rather than political sentiment or convenience.

The party described Makinde as a bridge-builder possessing the executive experience and calm disposition required to unite diverse political interests and present Nigerians with a credible alternative at the polls.
Kazeem noted that under Makinde’s stewardship, Oyo State has witnessed substantial development in road infrastructure, agriculture, public healthcare, and internal revenue generation.

He emphasized that the opposition requires an electable leader with broad national appeal who can balance governance expertise with strong cross-regional relationships.
To ensure a strong electoral turnout, Lagos APM revealed that its governorship candidate, Prince Laja Adeoye, has initiated a comprehensive grassroots mobilization framework across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The campaign structure focuses on expanding polling-unit networks, training election agents, and engaging key socio-economic groups to secure over five million votes for the coalition in Lagos State.
