The Member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tasir Wale Raji, has been selected to chair the Lagos State University’s 29th and 30th Convocation Lecture scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the lecture, which forms part of activities marking the institution’s combined 29th and 30th Convocation ceremonies, is expected to bring together academics, policymakers, students, graduands, alumni, distinguished guests, and other stakeholders for an engaging discussion on the role of the Nigerian diaspora in national development.
The Convocation Lecture will be delivered by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, D.Arts (h.c.), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
Dabiri-Erewa will speak on the topic, “From LASU to the World: Harnessing the Nigerian Diaspora as the 7th Region for National Development.”
The choice of Wale Raji as Chairman places the federal lawmaker at the centre of an intellectual engagement expected to examine how Nigeria can effectively harness the expertise, resources, networks, investments, and global connections of Nigerians living and working abroad.
The topic is particularly relevant to students and young professionals, as the Nigerian diaspora continues to play an important role in knowledge transfer, innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and other areas of national development.
The lecture will also provide an opportunity for participants to explore practical ways of strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and its citizens in the diaspora, while creating pathways for greater contributions to education, technology, economic development, and human capital advancement.
As Chairman of the lecture, Hon. Wale Raji is expected to lead the engagement and provide direction for discussions among the distinguished speakers and participants.
The event is scheduled to hold at 9:00 a.m. at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
Members of the university community, students, graduands, alumni, distinguished guests, and the general public have been invited to participate in the lecture.
