EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Brazilian football icon, whose full name is Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, retired from professional football in 2018 after an illustrious career that saw him play for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Ronaldinho announced his return on Thursday as he was unveiled by Ravenna, where he will wear the number 10 jersey.
The former Brazil international won the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in 2005. He also enjoyed successful spells with Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan during his career.
Before his retirement, Ronaldinho last played a competitive match in September 2015 for Brazilian club Fluminense.
Speaking during his presentation on a beach in Ravenna, Ronaldinho said he was delighted to be involved in football again and praised the quality of his new teammates.
“I’m very happy to be here with friends; we have a team that can do something good,” the former Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan star said.
Ronaldinho also played down speculation about whether he would feature on the pitch, saying the decision would be left to the coach.
“Will you see me play? I don’t know, only the coach knows that. Coming back to Italy is wonderful, I’m here to help my teammates win,” he said.
The former world player of the year said he felt physically ready for the challenge and hoped to reach the 300 goal mark in his career.
“As you can see, I’m in shape, I feel good… If I could score my 300th goal, that would be even more beautiful,” Ronaldinho said.
