The EOD team subsequently confirmed that the detonated device was a locally fabricated landmine.
Security operatives carried out a thorough search of the surrounding area and swept the road for possible additional explosives before declaring the location safe.

The police also said damaged sections of the road were filled with cement to facilitate the restoration of normal vehicular movement.
The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP A.M. Bello, urged motorists and residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects or activities to security agencies.
The command specifically warned members of the public against approaching, touching or tampering with suspected explosive devices.
“Members of the public are equally advised not to touch, approach or tamper with any suspected explosive device, but to immediately alert security personnel,” the command said.
The police assured residents that security personnel would continue to respond promptly to emerging threats and strengthen efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
