The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, Dankombo Morris, to Plateau State following the deadly attack on Bin’per community in Mangu Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the deployment is part of measures to reinforce security in the area after the attack, which reportedly claimed the lives of about 24 residents, injured several others and resulted in the destruction of property.

Morris, who represented the IGP, visited the affected community on Thursday, August 20, 2026, to assess the security situation and inspect the impact of the attack.
He was accompanied by the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Ayoade Faniyan, and other senior police officers.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the AIG reviewed the security situation and measures being implemented to prevent further attacks.
Addressing residents, Morris conveyed the IGP’s concern over the incident and condemned the attack as “barbaric and unacceptable.”

He sympathised with families who lost their loved ones and assured residents that the police would intensify efforts to identify and arrest those responsible.
The AIG also disclosed that additional police personnel and operational assets had been deployed to the affected community to strengthen security.
He said the deployment was also aimed at restoring confidence among residents and creating a secure environment for those who fled the area to return to their homes and livelihoods.
Morris later paid a courtesy visit to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, where he conveyed the IGP’s condolences to the state government and people of Plateau over the attack.
The governor expressed concern over the killings and reaffirmed the state government’s support for security agencies in their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, prevent further attacks and restore lasting peace across affected communities.
The Nigeria Police Force said it would continue to collaborate with the Plateau State Government, other security agencies and local communities to strengthen security and prevent further violence.
