- Oke-Afa Bridge Closure: Lagos Announces Alternative Routes for Motorists

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo for three weeks to allow rehabilitation works to be carried out on the bridge.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the closure will begin on Friday, August 28, and last until September 18, 2026.

According to the state government, the rehabilitation will be carried out in two phases.
The first phase, from August 28 to September 11, will affect the outbound Isolo-to-Ejigbo section, while the second phase, from September 12 to September 18, will cover the inbound Ejigbo-to-Isolo section.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said in a traffic management plan issued on Monday that the bridge would be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the rehabilitation.
During the first phase, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout.
Traffic will move in both directions along the diverted section before rejoining the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.
Motorists coming from Ejigbo will maintain free movement and share the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound traffic from Mobil Filling Station to Pako Roundabout before regaining full access to the road.
For the second phase, motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station.
Traffic will again move in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.
Motorists travelling from Isolo will maintain free movement while sharing the carriageway with Isolo-bound traffic between Pako Roundabout and Mobil Filling Station.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will deploy personnel to the area to manage traffic and reduce congestion during the rehabilitation.
The government also said an emergency tow vehicle would be stationed within the area throughout the period to quickly remove vehicles that break down.
The state government appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and exercise patience during the temporary closure.
It said the partial closure was necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation of the bridge and improve road infrastructure in the area.
