Coronavirus: Ifako-Ijaiye Begins Third Phase Distribution Of Emergency Food Package

In line with the federal government policy on COVID-19 lockdown extension for another two weeks, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, Executive Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government has reiterated that he will focus more on security and welfare of the people of the Council area with the distribution of the third phase of the Local Government emergency food package.

Oke said, “after a review of the first and second phase distribution, feedbacks received still revealed there are still more households and families the expanded house-to- house emergency food package is yet to reach with a view to curtail and flatten the curve of the spread of the deadly Coronavirus Scourge by staying at home and avoid all non- essential movement and travel with the provision of food package to inspire and boost their morale having it at the back of their mind that they have not been forgotten by Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government.”.

He added, that the 500 palliatives distributed via door-to-door to different households in Bankole Fagbohun, Alake, Oluwatayo and Olowookere Streets were solely for the needy and averred that it may not get to everyone in the Council area.

Earlier, during the distribution of the 3rd phase emergency food package, Oke praised some good spirited individuals in the local government that have joined and partnered in the charitable cause by providing buffers and assistance to residents while charging more private and public enterprises, NGOs and religious organizations to join hands in assisting vulnerable people around them and the local government at large because the government can not do it alone.

The Chairman stated that this “third phase of the emergency food package distribution response is part of his administration’s welfare package to the needy “. As we are in the third day of the new fourteen day (14) extension, what we are asking from you as a government is “little patience “and that you don’t take the #COVID-19 outbreak lightly. “Preventing its spread is an obligation for everyone of us while we take all necessary steps and precautions towards this end as we must not forget it’s now a pandemic; global crises. So, Let’s play our part , Let’s not harm others and don’t be a source of harm”. Stay safe! He said.
