Adamu Atiku Abubakar, a son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially stepped down from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the announced his departure in a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in Jada 1 Ward, located in Jada Local Government Area. In the letter, Adamu stated that his resignation from the party takes effect immediately.

According to the notice, he informed the ward leadership that he was withdrawing his membership from the PDP with immediate effect.

In the message, he wrote that he was formally resigning from the party at the ward level and asked that his decision be communicated to the appropriate authorities within the party structure.
Despite leaving the party, Adamu expressed appreciation to the ward leaders and members for the support they had given him during his time in the PDP.
He said he was grateful for the chance to contribute and work within the party over the years.
The development comes at a time when several political figures are making strategic moves and adjustments ahead of upcoming political contests across the country.
Adamu’s exit from the party follows his recent resignation as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State.

His decision to leave the cabinet came shortly after the governor of the state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, reportedly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a separate resignation letter dated March 2, 2026, and addressed to Governor Fintiri, Adamu explained that his decision followed careful thought and personal reflection.

He described his period in office as an honour and thanked the governor for giving him the opportunity to serve.
He also extended his gratitude to the people of Adamawa State for their support during his time in government, while offering prayers for continued guidance and progress for the state.
