- The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has launched a formal probe to identify the sources behind a “provocative” consensus list circulating on social media.
- State Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare has labeled the document as fake and deceptive, clarifying that the party has not yet opened the window for 2027 nominations.
- The party has cautioned members and supporters to disregard the rumors, warning that those found responsible for spreading the misinformation will face internal consequences.
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has moved to quell internal tension following the viral circulation of a purported consensus list for the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a strongly worded statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday, March 29, 2026, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, dismissed the document as an unfounded rumor designed to trigger division within the party ranks.

Sadare emphasized that the APC is currently nowhere near the stage of expressing interest, nomination, or conducting primaries for the next election cycle.
He described the circulation of the list as a “deceptive and provocative” act, reiterating that the party’s leadership remains focused on its current mandates rather than the 2027 ballot.
“The party has reiterated that members of the general public should discountenance the rumor… warning those behind it to either desist or be prepared to face the consequences if caught,” the statement read.
The investigation comes just days after the party had to debunk similar rumors regarding a purported gubernatorial candidate for the state.
Political analysts suggest that these early “lists” are often the work of overzealous factions attempting to test the waters or force the hands of party leadership.
Sadare, however, was firm in stating that no such list exists officially and that any claims to the contrary are purely speculative.

As the political landscape in Nigeria begins to shift toward the next major election cycle, the Oyo APC’s swift reaction highlights an effort to maintain discipline and order.
While other political heavyweights, including former governors and ministers are reportedly making moves for 2027, the Oyo APC leadership insists that all members must adhere to the party’s official timelines to avoid premature friction.
