According to local reports monitored by media outlets, the heartbreaking incident occurred on Wednesday evening during intense post-match celebrations that erupted right after the final whistle.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that Sarah, an exceptional alumna of the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was watching the highly competitive tournament match alongside her close friends.
The group had gathered at the Standard Hostel, a popular private residential facility located in the Bomso neighborhood near the university campus.
As fans erupted in cheers to celebrate the Black Stars’ crucial 1-0 win over their Central American opponents, Sarah suddenly suffered what medical experts suspect to be a severe cardiac arrest and slumped to the ground.
Her distraught friends immediately rushed her to the KNUST Hospital in a desperate bid to save her life. Upon arrival at the emergency ward, dedicated medical personnel swiftly intervened, performing continuous CPR procedures for about 45 minutes.
Despite the extensive and exhaustive resuscitation efforts made by the healthcare team, she could not be revived and was subsequently certified dead.
The young lawyer’s untimely passing has left her immediate family, colleagues, and the entire university community devastated, especially given that she was called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year.

Tributes have continued to pour in across various West African digital platforms, with close colleagues and former classmates describing Sarah as a brilliant, kind-hearted, and incredibly promising young legal mind whose career was cut short just as it began to blossom.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary, where an official autopsy is expected to confirm the exact medical cause of death.
Meanwhile, structural authorities and medical professionals have used the tragic event to remind football enthusiasts to maintain moderate emotional regulation during highly intense sporting events.
