The presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has declared that he will not step down for any contender ahead of the party’s 2027 presidential primary election.
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, Hayatu-Deen said no rival aspirant has approached him with a request to withdraw from the race. He also stated firmly that he would not step aside for any political figure, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
“They have not asked me to step down. And if anyone does, I will not step down for anybody. However, once the party makes its final decision through a credible process, I will fully support whoever emerges as the candidate,” he said.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Hayatu-Deen said he entered the presidential race because Nigeria requires strong and competent leadership capable of addressing its deepening economic and security challenges.
He maintained that every eligible Nigerian has the constitutional right to contest for public office, adding that his decision to join the race was based on a careful assessment of the country’s current situation and its future direction.
According to him, Nigeria’s major challenges remain social and economic, including rising inflation, unemployment, insecurity, weak healthcare delivery, and a struggling education system. He noted that despite the country’s vast resources, hardship has persisted for many years.
“I believe Nigeria’s problems are largely bread-and-butter issues, social and economic in nature. They require someone with deep knowledge and understanding of the economic and social history of this country, and someone capable of providing practical solutions,” he said.

The ADC presidential aspirant added that he would support any candidate who eventually emerges through a transparent and credible party process.
