African Democratic Congress has appealed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to hasten the delivery of a Supreme Court ruling over its lingering leadership dispute.
In a letter dated April 28, 2026, Eko Hot Blog gathered that lawyers representing a faction associated with David Mark expressed concern that delays in the court’s decision could jeopardise the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.

The Supreme Court had previously heard arguments in the case on April 22 but reserved judgment without announcing a date. The matter is being considered by a five-member panel led by Mohammed Garba, following appeals against earlier rulings from lower courts on the party’s internal leadership crisis.

In their correspondence, the legal team explained that steps already taken by the electoral authorities, based on prior court decisions, have left the party without a clearly recognised leadership structure, despite its continued registration.
They cautioned that further delay in the court’s ruling could prevent the party from meeting key requirements necessary to participate in the upcoming elections, potentially sidelining its members and supporters.
The lawyers stressed that a prompt judgment is crucial, noting that prolonged uncertainty could undermine the political prospects of the party and limit the ability of its supporters to fully exercise their constitutional rights within the democratic process.
