EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters is seeking an additional ₦30 billion to support the commission’s preparations and conduct of the nationwide polls. Lawmakers linked the proposed increment to anticipated logistical demands associated with organising elections across the country.
The committee noted that effective transportation of personnel and sensitive materials, deployment of technology, and security coordination would require substantial funding to ensure a smooth and credible exercise.
The proposal comes after INEC earlier submitted a projected budget of about ₦873 billion for the 2027 general elections.

The commission had outlined expenses covering procurement of election materials, training of ad hoc staff, voter education, technology upgrades, and other operational requirements.
