President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Enitan’s appointment takes effect from August 27, 2026, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

He will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, is currently the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings including the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
He currently heads the Federal Ministry of Education.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to Walson-Jack for her years of service and contributions to the development of the Federal Civil Service.
The President also commended the reforms, innovations and other initiatives implemented during her tenure, while wishing her a fulfilling life after retirement.

Tinubu, according to the statement, charged the incoming Head of Service to build on the reforms already underway and further strengthen professionalism and efficiency across the public service.
He also tasked Enitan with leading a Civil Service that is merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to the needs and aspirations of Nigerians.
The President said the new leadership should focus on building a more effective and responsive Civil Service capable of supporting the delivery of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
