EKO HOT BLOG reports that Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, issued a statement on Wednesday debunking the claims, describing the defection rumours as “baseless and false.” He clarified that the visit by Governor Adeleke, his brother Deji Adeleke, and music star Davido to President Tinubu’s residence in Ikoyi was strictly a family courtesy call, not a political move.
“The media speculation about likely or imminent defection is fake news,” Rasheed said. “Governor Adeleke remains a committed member and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State. Any reading of a defection agenda into the visit is a deliberate distortion of facts.”
In a swift reaction, the Osun chapter of the APC also rejected the notion of Adeleke joining their ranks. Speaking to journalists, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, declared that the party’s governorship ticket for 2026 is “not for sale.”
“We are not in talks with Adeleke or any of his allies,” Owoeye stated. “The APC in Osun is strong and not open to political opportunism. Adeleke remains a PDP member, and he has no space in our party.”

He also alleged that the Adeleke family and PDP were already jittery about their political future, asserting that the ruling party was confident of reclaiming the governorship in 2026.
