AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria Draw 1-1 With Benin Republic, Win Group D
Nigeria’s Super Eagles settled for a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Abidjan on Thursday.
Gernot Rohr’s team took an early lead through Mohamed Tijani and controlled much of the first half.

However, Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen leveled the score in the second half to secure a point for the Super Eagles.
The draw keeps Nigeria at the top of Group D with 11 points from five matches, while Benin holds second place with seven points.
Rwanda and Libya sit in third and fourth positions with five and four points, respectively, ahead of the final group fixtures.

With this result, Nigeria has already qualified for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Austin Eguavoen’s side will close out the group stage against Rwanda on Monday in Uyo.
