The governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming November 8 Anambra State election, John Nwosu, has sworn an affidavit at an Awka High Court, promising to serve only one term if voters elect him.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Nwosu’s legal vow supports Anambra’s unwritten governorship zoning formula, which calls for the rotation of the office among the three senatorial zones: North, Central, and South.

The candidate, who hails from the Anambra South zone (like the incumbent), stated in the affidavit that the South zone has only one four-year term remaining in its rotation.
The affidavit legally seals his commitment to serve only one term to complete the South zone’s tenure. After his proposed four years, he affirms the governorship should rotate to the Anambra Central zone for eight years, before moving to the North zone.

Speaking after signing the document, Nwosu said true leadership must focus on delivering results within a clear, focused timeframe, not on clinging to power. Eko Hot Blog reports that he declared: “I came into the race to serve, not to rule.”
Nwosu stressed that four years is sufficient to transform Anambra if the leader has sincerity of purpose.
By taking this bold, selfless, and exemplary legal step, Nwosu has publicly validated his earlier pledge, which many people initially found difficult to believe.
