Andrew Wynne: Why I Won’t Surrender to Nigeria Police – Wanted Briton

Andrew Wynne, a British national recently declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, has stated that he will not surrender to authorities, citing fears for his life.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that police announced on Monday a N20 million bounty on Wynne and a Nigerian, Lucky Obiyan, accusing them of attempting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu by allegedly funding the #EndBadGovernance or #Hunger protests.

Wynne denied the allegations, claiming the police never invited him to address the accusations.
However, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi insisted that Wynne had been given the opportunity to come forward and prove his innocence, stating, “We have established offences against him, and his accomplices have been charged in court. Let him come and meet us to defend himself as a leader.”

In an interview on Wednesday, Wynne expressed his refusal to surrender, citing the torture of his employee, Yomi, who was arrested and allegedly tortured for three days.

Wynne, 70, said, “The police say I should give myself up if I’m innocent. I am innocent, but I won’t survive if I surrender. It’s not just fear of torture, it’s fear for my life.”
Given the current situation, he emphasised that he believes he wouldn’t survive the year if he returned to Nigeria.
