- The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council has challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke to provide a detailed breakdown of ₦14.9 billion accessed as security votes under his administration.
- The opposition raised serious concerns over reports that personnel of the state-funded Osun Amotekun Corps were diverted to guard a private family business in Ondo State.
- Leadership of the campaign council asserted that despite massive financial inflows, the current administration has failed to add a single operational vehicle or asset to the state’s security fleets.
The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council on Monday, June 8, 2026, demanded a comprehensive public explanation from Governor Ademola Adeleke regarding the utilization of security funds and the deployment of the Osun Amotekun Corps.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in an official statement signed by the council’s Director-General, Oluwole Oke, the opposition body detailed troubling reports indicating that tax-funded security operatives were being diverted from their primary territorial duties.

According to the council, dozens of Amotekun personnel were allegedly deployed to provide security services at the Pacific Energy Company, a private facility located in Omotosho Village along the Benin-Ore Road in neighboring Ondo State.
Oke characterized the development as shocking and unacceptable, stating that personnel trained and funded with Osun resources should never be converted into guards for a private family business outside the state while local communities face pressing security threats.
Compounding the controversy, the campaign council highlighted the tragic death of an Amotekun operative identified as Abdullahi Adedeji.
The officer reportedly sustained severe head injuries during a motorcycle accident in April 2026 while traveling to report at his assigned duty post in Ondo State.
The APC statement alleged that the deceased operative did not receive proper medical care or sufficient institutional support from the state government following the incident, ultimately leading to his untimely demise.
The council used this development to underscore what it described as an underlying lack of accountability and structural mismanagement within the state’s security apparatus under the current leadership.

Furthermore, the opposition campaign council criticized the broader management of public security resources, asserting that official records show Governor Adeleke has accessed ₦14.9 billion in security votes.
Oke argued that despite this enormous liquidity allocation, there has been an absolute zero-expansion of the physical security assets available to law enforcement agencies operating across Osun State.
The council emphasized that the current administration has not added a single vehicle or basic asset to the operational fleet inherited from the previous APC administration.
Dismissing counter-claims from the Adeleke Campaign Council that the ₦14.9 billion was spent strictly on honorariums and standard operations for the Amotekun Corps, Oke demanded full financial transparency, stating that the citizens of Osun deserve a meticulous accounting of how their security funds are being distributed.
Efforts by reporters to obtain a defensive reaction from the state’s Commissioner for Information before publication were unsuccessful as his telephone lines remained unreachable.
