- Under the leadership of Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, the chapter has inaugurated a fully functional network of polling unit teams and executives aimed at bringing Abia into the center of national politics.
The push for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election has gained significant momentum in the South East as the City Boy Movement officially positioned itself to win Abia State for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Igbokwe emphasized that the movement is focused on a non-violent approach, seeking to appeal to the conscience of Abians by showcasing the administration’s impact on the region.
He specifically pointed to the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) as a major milestone that demonstrates the President’s commitment to the development of the zone.
According to Igbokwe, the movement’s primary goal is to ensure that Abia remains at the center of the federal government’s developmental agenda, which he believes will yield more packages and initiatives for the state’s youth.

The coordinator urged residents to embrace the movement, arguing that a second tenure for the President would allow for the completion of ongoing “good works” across the South East.
By building a strong grassroots base, the City Boy Movement intends to influence voter sentiment through dialogue and evidence of federal intervention, rather than traditional political pressure.
This mobilization comes at a time of high-level activity within the presidency and the legislature.
President Tinubu recently held closed-door talks with the extended leadership of the Senate to discuss national issues, while also seeking approval for a $516 million loan for the Sokoto-Badagry superhighway.
