EKO HOT BLOG reports that Naija News reports that Fubara was screened and cleared by the APC screening committee during an exercise held at the Plateau Governors’ Lodge in Abuja on Saturday.
The Rivers State governor was said to be among 17 serving governors whose credentials were verified and assessed by the committee ahead of the party primaries.
The development comes days after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, denied endorsing any candidate for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.
Speaking during his monthly media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike stated that no endorsement would be made until the state-level joint coalition reached a decision.
“I haven’t endorsed anybody. And I can’t endorse anybody until the joint coalition meets,” Wike said.
Despite the minister’s denial, political speculation has continued to grow over possible candidates he may back ahead of the governorship race.
There are reports suggesting that Wike may support former Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly, for the governorship position.
The reports claimed that the former Rivers governor settled for George-Kelly following a closed-door meeting with political stakeholders in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The APC governorship primary is expected to shape the political balance of power in Rivers State as various camps intensify consultations ahead of the 2027 general election.
