The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress North Central Forum, Saleh Zazzaga, has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress that ongoing investigations involving former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, are politically motivated.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in an interview with Punch, Zazzaga insisted that the probes were centred on accountability and not a witch hunt against opposition figures.
Reacting to claims of political persecution, he said no individual is above the law, irrespective of party affiliation.
“If somebody commits corruption, does it mean that because he is in the opposition, the government should not handle his case? Even within the APC, if anyone commits an offence, he must face the consequences,” he said.
Zazzaga argued that the witch hunt narrative does not stand up to scrutiny, noting that other prominent opposition leaders had not been invited by anti graft agencies.
“If the opposition is being witch-hunted, Obi and Atiku would have been invited too. This is not about opposition politics. It is about what certain individuals did while in office,” he stated.
He also dismissed suggestions that the ruling party felt threatened by the ADC or its coalition moves.
“We are not worried about the ADC. They are not on ground. Nobody can hide under the cover of opposition to commit crime,” he said.
Zazzaga further criticised the records of the two former officials.
“Everybody knows how Malami handled some political cases and ignored certain court directives. We also know how El-Rufai ran Kaduna State and left behind huge debts. The current governor is struggling financially, and if not for the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, development in Kaduna would have stalled,” he said.
Maintaining that the investigations were not acts of political vendetta, Zazzaga added, “This is not a political vendetta. Malami and El-Rufai must face the consequences of their actions. If they clear themselves, they are free to continue their political activities.”

He also accused El Rufai of attempting to divert attention from the probe.
“All the propaganda by El-Rufai is simply to distract from the investigation,” he said.
