APC Sweeps All Local Government Council’s Elections In Jigawa
The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, JISIEC, has declared the All progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of all the 27 local government chairmanship elections in the state.
JISIEC spokesman, Habibu Yarima, made this known in a statement on Saturday.
Yarima said already the election results was declared at the respective local government headquarters and political ward coalition centre across the 27 local government area of the state.
“The All Progressive Congress APC has won all the 27 Chairmanship elections and 281 out of 287 councillorship contested by 11 political parties in the last Saturday 5th October local government council elections.
“APGA won one councilor of Margadu ward in Guri local government, while Accord Party won 4 councilorship includeding Ajaura ward in Taura Local Government, Kanwa ward in Jahun local government, Maiaduwa ward in Gagarawa local government and Guntusu ward of Gwaiwa local government”
“Also the winner of the councilorship of Dubantu ward in Hadejia local government was not declared due to disagreement over the results coalition and destruction of some ballot boxes,” he said.
According to him, the executive Chairman of JISEC, Hon Auwalu Muhammad Harbo had already presented certificates of return to all the winners of the 27 local government chairman seats.
Commenting on the outcome of the election, the Chairman Jigawa state All Progressive Congress APC, Hon Aminu Sani Gumel, congratulated his party members for the overwhelming victory.
