Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, alongside several aggrieved leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, have pledged to rally support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and reclaim the state from the Labour Party-led government of Governor Alex Otti.
The decision was reached during an emergency stakeholders’ meeting held at Kalu’s Abuja residence on Friday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that present at the meeting were APC National Welfare Secretary Donatus Nwankpa, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, former Finance Commissioner Obinna Oriaku, and other key stakeholders including Ndukwe Adindu, Sam Ikiri, Mike Nwabara, Anyim Nyerere, Nze Esiaga, Chidi Maduekwe, Ndukwe Maxwell, Nnanna Kalu, and Emeka Atuma.
Speaking after the closed-door session, Kalu announced that the Abia APC is now “one united, indivisible family” in line with President Tinubu’s reconciliation directive at the party’s last National Executive Committee meeting.
“We are more united now than ever because President Tinubu instructed us to reconcile our party members in our states. He knows we are capable of doing it,” Kalu said.
He urged constituents and the masses to align with the APC to benefit from the “federal might,” citing visible interventions in Abia North Senatorial District as examples of what party loyalty could bring across the three senatorial districts.
Kalu recalled that Tinubu had expressed displeasure over the situation in Abia during their last meeting but entrusted him with the responsibility of mending the cracks within the party. He assured that no member would be left out of the reconciliation process.
“We are calling and promising all that nobody will be left behind. We are in government, and everybody must roll with us or they might regret it. We must identify with the peace initiative to build a strong party that speaks loudly during elections,” he said.
The former Chief Whip of the Senate also emphasized his credibility as a former governor and senator, adding that whoever the APC fields for elections will be credible and committed to service.
Kalu further announced the endorsement of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid by Abia APC stakeholders, stressing that the party would work hard to ensure victory both at the national and state levels.
“We have a President who will be going for a second term. Abia must align with the centre because we cannot afford to be speaking differently. The consensus of the South East is to support him strongly in 2027, and I challenge everyone to mark my words,” he said.
