EKO HOT BLOG reports that the governor spoke in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, where he dismissed the opposition’s chances as unrealistic and detached from political realities in the state.
Adeleke described the expectation of victory by former governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and Oyebamiji as “wishful thinking, illusory grandstanding and a failure to accept the deep level of unpopularity of APC among the people of Osun state.”
He declared Oyetola’s administration as an anti people era in Osun’s history, stating that the condition of the state when he assumed office in 2022 reflected widespread decline.
The governor said the period was “a dark page in Osun socio political history, a period neither labour nor any segment of our population want re enacted.”
Adeleke accused Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and Oyebamiji of playing central roles in policies that plunged the state into economic hardship marked by unpaid entitlements and poor public service delivery.
He said the duo were responsible for “the mismanagement that plunged Osun State into economic distress, characterised by half salaries, mounting debts, and poor service delivery to the people.”
Boasting of strong public backing for his re election bid, Adeleke criticised the APC for what he described as anti democratic tactics instead of engaging voters directly.
“If you are sure you have the votes of the people, why are you deploying anti democratic means to stop the unstoppable will of our people? It is shameful and reprehensible that those who claim to be popular are dead scared to face the people in a free and fair election,” he said.
“A clear misreading of the political reality in Osun State, the people of the State are fully satisfied with the people oriented and responsive governance being delivered by the present administration.”
“Osun citizens are enjoying a government that prioritises workers’ welfare, infrastructural renewal, healthcare delivery, education, and inclusive development, and therefore have no desire to return to the era of hardship, neglect, and anti people policies associated with the APC’s 12 year rule in the State.”
“You and your proxy, now the APC’s governorship candidate, were central figures in the mismanagement that plunged Osun State into economic distress, characterised by half salaries, mounting debts, and poor service delivery to the people. Osun will not go back to the dark days.”
Adeleke said his administration was reversing the damage inherited from past governments, adding that recent awards and recognitions, including the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge for the South West, reflected improved governance.
He stated that the government’s performance across key sectors had strengthened public trust, with residents determined to protect ongoing reforms at the polls.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to delivering democratic dividends and urged residents to ignore political propaganda ahead of the election.

“As the August 8, 2026 gubernatorial election approaches, Osun people are fully aware that a vote for the APC and its candidate is a vote for a return to the failures of the past. Such a regression is one the people of Osun are not prepared to entertain,” Adeleke said.
