Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns over an unauthorised payment made into one of his private bank accounts, saying the incident may indicate that his confidential banking information has been compromised.
Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

According to the statement, an individual whose identity is unknown to Atiku transferred money into his account with the description, “Contribution Electioneering Campaign.”
The former vice president said neither he nor his campaign team requested, approved or had any prior knowledge of the transaction or the person behind it.
He described the circumstances surrounding the payment as disturbing, particularly because the affected account is a private account whose details are not publicly available.
Atiku questioned how an unknown person was able to obtain the banking information, warning that the incident raises serious concerns about the protection of financial privacy in Nigeria.
He said the alleged breach was particularly troubling because confidential banking information in the wrong hands could expose account holders to criminal threats, including fraud, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity.
The ADC candidate also expressed concern that the information might have been obtained through people with privileged access to sensitive financial data.
According to him, if the alleged breach is confirmed, it would amount to a serious abuse of confidential information and could have wider implications for the safety of Nigerians.
Atiku said security agencies and members of the public had been alerted to the development, which he described as one of several suspicious incidents emerging ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged Nigerians not to be distracted by what he described as attempts to damage his reputation as political activities intensify.
The former vice president maintained that he would remain focused on his political campaign and his commitment to providing what he described as credible leadership and practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
