Tinubu said the government is also expanding housing projects across the country to meet the growing demand for affordable homes, while completed estates have been handed over to state governments for allocation to qualified beneficiaries.
According to him, the administration is leveraging strategic public-private partnerships and innovative financing models involving the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company, Family Homes Fund, mortgage real estate investment funds and private developers to increase access to affordable home ownership.
He added that some beneficiaries have already taken possession of homes under the New Hope Rent-to-Own Housing Scheme, describing the milestone as the outcome of deliberate government policies and sustained investment in the housing sector.
The President also disclosed that the Federal Government is advancing plans for the proposed Tinubu Mass Social Housing Scheme, which aims to deliver about 150,000 affordable housing units across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas in two phases.

In his goodwill message, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, congratulated the organisers of the Africa International Housing Show for creating a platform that promotes dialogue, innovation, investment and partnerships in Africa’s housing sector.
Akume stressed that Africa’s housing agenda must be driven by policies that support sustainable development while making housing more accessible and affordable for citizens.
Earlier, Chairman of the Africa International Housing Show, Senator Pius Ayim, said housing development goes beyond constructing buildings, noting that sustainable communities require quality infrastructure and effective urban planning.
He added that the National Urban Renewal Programme is providing essential infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, water supply, sanitation facilities, street lighting and environmental improvements in underserved communities across Nigeria.
