Serial businessman and philanthropist, Chief (Sir) Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, has completed the construction of a 350-seater facility at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos.
Adebutu donated the facility to the institution for the training of communication students in Nigeria.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the large auditorium, now named the Kessington Adebutu Media Resource Centre, will be commissioned on October 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the institute’s premises located on Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Lagos State.
According to the Chairman of the Governing Council, Aremu Olusegun Osoba, the commissioning of the media resource centre will enhance the educational resources available to NIJ students and the broader media community.
Recall that the sod-turning ceremony for the construction of the facility started in April 2024.
Adebutu was conferred the fellowship award at the Golden Jubilee Special Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in March 2022.
The media centre is expected to provide journalism students with access to state-of-the-art equipment, resources, and technology, enhancing their learning experience.
