The political landscape in Nigeria took an intriguing turn as Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed publicly called for the resignation of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Eko Hot Blog gathered that this demand was made on Saturday, January 25th, with Governor Mohammed accusing Wike of engaging in anti-party activities and demonstrating loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Labeling Wike a “transactional politician,” Governor Mohammed suggested that Wike’s shifting allegiances are driven by personal ambitions.
Furthermore, Mohammed alleged that Wike’s actions are serving the interests of the APC, implying that a formal transition to the ruling party would be more appropriate.
In response, Wike, through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, described Bala Mohammed as a “Greedy politician” and accused him of using Wike’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu as a scapegoat for his leadership shortcomings as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
In response to Mohammed’s call for Wike’s resignation from the PDP, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, criticized the Bauchi governor’s leadership of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Governor Mohammed doubled down on his criticism, describing Wike’s recent actions as “reckless” and “deceptive.”
In a statement, Mohammed accused Wike of a history of betrayal, citing political figures such as Senator John Azuta Mbata, Dr. Peter Odili, and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as past victims of Wike’s alleged disloyalty.
Furthermore, Mohammed claimed that Wike’s tenure has been characterized by a “use-and-dump” strategy, which has destabilized the PDP through the removal of successive party leaders like Uche Secondus and Iyorchia Ayu.

He argued that Wike’s actions are aimed at weakening the PDP to benefit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Bauchi governor emphasized that the PDP Governors’ Forum, along with other core organs like the Board of Trustees (BOT), is working diligently under his leadership to rebuild the party and address internal challenges caused by Wike.
He urged Wike to resign and formally align with the APC, stating: “The time for noise-making is over; it is time for governance.

“Let Wike reflect on his conduct and do the honourable thing: resign and align fully with the APC he so eagerly serves.
