The 23-year-old forward came off the bench as a substitute, delivering his signature header in stoppage time to secure a 2-0 victory for Bayer Leverkusen against West Ham in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg held in Leverkusen on Thursday.

The goal was his first in 2024 and his 17th in 26 games across all competition, following a four-month injury layoff.

“We have a game on Sunday (against Werder Bremen), which is a big game for us.”

Leverkusen, maintaining an undefeated streak after 42 games this season, presently holds a commanding 16-point lead over second-placed Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
