The Federal High Court in Abuja has upheld the removal of Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, bringing a decisive end to the leadership dispute within the party.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially recognise the National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman as the legitimate leadership of the Labour Party.

The ruling was confirmed by human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who was in court when the judgment was delivered on Wednesday.

According to him, Justice Lifu held that the Nenadi Usman–led caretaker committee remains the only lawful authority recognised by the court.
Effiong explained that the judge relied on an earlier Supreme Court decision, which had already determined that Julius Abure’s tenure as national chairman had expired.
“The court reaffirmed that, based on the Supreme Court’s judgment, Julius Abure’s tenure had long elapsed,” Effiong said.

Following the ruling, the court ordered INEC to immediately acknowledge Senator Nenadi Usman as the head of the Labour Party’s lawful leadership structure.
Reacting to the judgment in a post on 𝕏, Effiong wrote that Justice Lifu unequivocally upheld the Nenadi Usman–led National Caretaker Committee and directed INEC to give it full recognition without delay.
