EKO HOT BLOG reports that Kwankwaso confirmed the visit in a post shared on his 𝕏 account, where he expressed satisfaction at hosting the former All Progressives Congress governorship candidate.
“Pleased to receive His Excellency Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, former Deputy Governor of Kano State, at my residence in Kano.
“Looking forward to what lies ahead,” he wrote.
The visit came on the same day Kwankwaso officially joined the African Democratic Congress. The former presidential candidate received his membership card in Kano after registering at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai.
The event attracted several prominent political figures, including David Mark, Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun.
Gawuna’s visit also followed his recent resignation as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. The former Kano APC governorship candidate is reportedly preparing to join the ADC alongside Kwankwaso.
In his resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, Gawuna said his decision took immediate effect and was in line with a directive by Bola Ahmed Tinubu requiring political appointees to step down in compliance with the Electoral Act ahead of future elections.
“My resignation is in strict compliance with the President’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” he stated.

He also expressed appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve as chairman of the bank’s governing board.
