Dr. Doyin Okupe, former presidential spokesperson and prominent political strategist, has passed away.
He was aged of 72.

Sources close to the Okupes revealed that Dr. Okupe had been critically ill in the weeks leading up to his demise.
His death is reportedly linked to cancer.
Okupe had a history of prostate cancer, first diagnosed 16 years ago, and later battled sarcoma in his right shoulder.

In October 2023, he was hospitalized with prostate cancer and was flown to Israel for treatment; however, his condition did not improve as hoped
Throughout his political career, Okupe held various significant roles.
He was a key figure in Nigerian politics, having served as a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan and previously served as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign but was forced to step down following a court conviction for money laundering.
After the 2023 general election, he also resigned from the Labour Party.
In a surprising turn of events, Okupe became a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
