President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a significant step toward restructuring Nigeria’s energy leadership by nominating Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the Minister of Power.
The announcement was made on Thursday through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

Joseph Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, brings over 30 years of experience in fiscal and economic reform to the role.
Eko Hot Blog reports that he previously held a high-ranking position as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he specialized in governance and institutional transformation.
Currently, he serves as the Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership.

Tegbe is not a stranger to the complexities of the Nigerian energy landscape.
His professional background includes prior engagements with key regulatory bodies, such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).
The Presidency expressed high expectations for the minister-designate, stating that his deep expertise is essential for advancing the administration’s goals and delivering better power outcomes for all Nigerians.
Tegbe will undergo Senate screening before he can officially assume his duties at the Ministry of Power.
