President Bola Tinubu has named Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the announcement was made in a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who noted that Tuggar stepped down to focus on preparations for the 2027 elections.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs before her elevation to the top position.

In a related development, the President also put forward Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending approval by the Senate.
Before his nomination, Enikanolaiye worked as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
He has a long career in diplomacy, spanning over 30 years, and has held several key roles, including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and postings in cities such as Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
According to the Presidency, the appointments are part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy direction, improve international engagement, and build stronger global partnerships.
The President also congratulated the new appointees and urged them to prioritise Nigeria’s national interests, promote economic diplomacy, enhance regional stability, and protect the welfare of citizens both at home and abroad.
