EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Chef Dammy described the reports as false and “impossible,” adding that she had no such plans. The rumours began shortly after celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, was officially recognized by Guinness World Records for cooking the largest serving pot of jollof rice.
Reacting to the speculation, Chef Dammy clarified that she was never involved in any beans cooking contest. She instead used the opportunity to congratulate Hilda Baci on her achievement, which she described as a win for Nigeria and the West African region.
“I want to say a very big congratulations to Miss Hilda for the just concluded project of cooking the biggest pot of jollof rice to feed thousands of people. Imagine cooking in a very big pot to feed thousands. Congratulations to Nigerians as a whole too because this is a win for everybody; to all West African countries,” she wrote.
Chef Dammy further appreciated Gino, the sponsor of Hilda’s record-breaking attempt, while reiterating her support for the Lagos-based chef. She explained that she decided to make the clarification after receiving several inquiries from fans who assumed she was attempting to set another food-related world record.
“I am actually making this video because people have been asking me where I was in the kitchen, that ‘Chef Dammy are you truly cooking beans?’ No, why would I do that?” she added.
