President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will deepen sustained engagement with leaders of the country’s major faiths as part of efforts to prevent conflict, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen national unity.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in his 2025 Christmas goodwill message, the President said continuous dialogue with Christian and Muslim leaders has remained central to the government’s approach to addressing religious intolerance and insecurity, adding that such engagements would be expanded in the coming year.

“Throughout the year, I have had the privilege of engaging with prominent leaders from the two major faiths in the country, particularly amid concerns about religious intolerance and insecurity,” Tinubu said. “We will build on these conversations to strengthen collaboration between government and religious institutions, prevent conflict and promote peaceful coexistence.”
The President described Christmas as a solemn season that goes beyond celebration, urging Nigerians to reflect on the deeper meaning of the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring message of peace, grace, hope, and goodwill to humanity.
He extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, thanking God for the opportunity to serve as President and offering prayers for peace, especially among Nigerians of different religious beliefs.
Reaffirming his constitutional responsibility, Tinubu said his administration remains committed to protecting religious freedom and safeguarding all Nigerians, regardless of faith, from violence and discrimination.
“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” he said.
The President recalled that since assuming office in 2023, his government has consistently reassured Nigerians of its resolve to safeguard the nation’s unity, security, and stability, stressing that the commitment remains unwavering.
He noted that every Nigerian, irrespective of ethnicity or belief, has the right to live, worship, and pursue legitimate aspirations in safety and dignity, warning that no citizen should suffer for practising his or her faith.
Tinubu also acknowledged the contributions of Christians to national development, noting that the teachings of Christ have inspired many Nigerians to serve selflessly, care for the vulnerable, and promote peace and tolerance within their communities.

Commending individuals and groups who continue to spread hope amid hardship, the President said the Christmas season is a reminder that, despite challenges, God remains with the nation.
On security, Tinubu reiterated that peace and stability remain top priorities for his administration, describing them as essential foundations for sustainable development and national progress.
With increased travel expected during the festive period, he urged Nigerians to exercise patience and discipline on the roads, wishing travellers safe journeys and safe returns.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, the President said that with faith in God and collective national resolve, the country would continue on the path of renewal. He pledged that his administration would remain focused on building a more united and prosperous nation for future generations.
