EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on December 6, 2025, when the CJTF member, identified as Hamza, reportedly engaged in a heated dispute with two residents, 25-year-old Ibrahim Abdullahi and his 60-year-old brother, Lawal Abdullahi, both from Tashar Ladan in Kurfi.
During the confrontation, Hamza allegedly opened fire, killing Ibrahim on the spot and inflicting gunshot injuries on Lawal. News of the shooting quickly sparked unrest among youths in the area.
Angry protesters set ablaze a CJTF patrol vehicle, and attempted to burn down the Kurfi Local Government Secretariat before security personnel intervened and dispersed them. The tension eased after the intervention of law enforcement who moved in to restore order.
The victims were taken to the Kurfi Comprehensive Health Centre, where a doctor confirmed Ibrahim Abdullahi dead. His brother, Lawal Abdullahi, popularly known as Kurma, was admitted and is reportedly responding to treatment.

Authorities say normalcy has returned to the community, but security operatives are maintaining close surveillance to prevent further disturbances.
