Court Puts Off Cubana Chief Priest’s Naira Abuse Case

  • The Federal High Court in Lagos adjourned the case against Cubana Chief Priest to June 25 for mention.

  • Okechukwu, arraigned by the EFCC on April 17 for abuse of the naira.

  • Parties are exploring a settlement, as informed by defence counsel Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN) on May 2.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the case against celebrity bartender Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, until June 25 for mention.

Okechukwu is facing charges over the abuse of the naira, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) having arraigned him on April 17.

He pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge and was granted bail set at N10 million. On May 2, the defence counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that the parties were exploring a settlement.

He withdrew his preliminary objection to the charge, following which the court adjourned until June 5 for a report of settlement.

The case has now been fixed for June 25 for mention.
