EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the ministry, the decision followed a directive from the Minister of Works, David Umahi, instructing the contractor handling the project, Messrs Arab Contractors, to return to critical sections of the road and accelerate reconstruction efforts.
The affected portions include the stretch between Ikorodu Roundabout and Sabo Junction in Lagos State, as well as the corridor from Cement inward Coca Cola axis in Sagamu.
Authorities explained that motorists moving from Ikorodu towards Sagamu will be allowed to pass through the construction zones under a counterflow traffic arrangement while rehabilitation works continue.
The ministry stated that the reconstruction exercise is expected to last about three months, allowing for full completion of the pavement works and adequate curing of the rigid road structure.
To ease movement and reduce traffic congestion, officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic flow around the affected areas.
Motorists and commuters have been urged to cooperate with traffic officials and security personnel deployed to the corridor to ensure smooth movement during the construction period.

Komolafe acknowledged that the ongoing work may cause inconvenience for road users and residents but assured that the government is committed to completing the project within the shortest possible time to improve travel conditions along the route.
