The meeting focused on the growing need to prepare youths for emerging opportunities being created by the ongoing industrial, commercial, and infrastructural expansion within the Ibeju-Lekki axis.
Participants at the engagement noted that the rapid transformation currently taking place across the corridor requires deliberate investment in human capital development to ensure that local youths are not left behind in the evolving economy.
According to stakeholders, the proposed centre is expected to serve as a hub for practical training, digital innovation, entrepreneurship development, and technology-driven learning designed to enhance employability and promote self-reliance among young people.

Speaking during the engagement, stakeholders emphasized the importance of creating opportunities that will enable youths to compete effectively in a modern and technology-driven workforce.
“As Ibeju-Lekki continues to witness massive economic growth and infrastructural expansion, it is important that our youths are properly equipped with the skills required to benefit from these opportunities,” one of the stakeholders stated.
Another participant described the initiative as a forward-thinking step capable of reducing unemployment and stimulating grassroots economic development within the local government.
“This proposed centre will not only empower young people with vocational and digital skills, it will also promote innovation, enterprise development, and sustainable economic advancement,” the stakeholder added.
The proposed facility is expected to provide industry-relevant training programmes, mentorship opportunities, enterprise support systems, and digital learning platforms tailored toward preparing beneficiaries for employment and entrepreneurship.
The initiative also aligns with the development vision of the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa under the SHIEELD Agenda, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, human capital development, and inclusive economic growth.
Observers described the move as a proactive response to the increasing demand for skilled manpower within the Lekki Free Trade Zone and other expanding sectors within the corridor.
