The dollar to naira exchange rate remained a key focus in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market on Friday, August 28, 2026, with the latest available figures showing the naira trading around ₦1,400 to the dollar in the parallel market.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the latest confirmed black market figures available as of August 27 showed that Bureau De Change operators were buying the US dollar at about ₦1,400 and selling it at approximately ₦1,410.

The buying rate of ₦1,400 means BDC operators pay about ₦1,400 for each dollar sold to them, while the selling rate of ₦1,410 represents the amount customers pay to purchase one dollar.
The official market rate was lower. The latest available CBN linked data showed a mid rate of about ₦1,338.09 per dollar on August 27, with a buying rate of ₦1,337.59 and a selling rate of ₦1,338.59.
Exchange rates can vary depending on the market, location, transaction size and individual BDC operator. The parallel market rate is also not the official rate recognised by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
