Tragedy struck in the Oke-Odo area of Lagos State after an elderly woman was killed by a white Pathfinder Jeep reportedly driven by an intoxicated motorist along Almaroof Road, inward Pleasure.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the fatal crash occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle following a suspected brake failure. The car veered off the road and hit the unsuspecting pedestrian, killing her instantly.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who swiftly arrived at the scene, apprehended the fleeing driver and secured the area to prevent further accidents.

Confirming the incident, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, said officers from the Ile-Epo Police Division were notified and have commenced investigations.
He added that the wrecked vehicle was towed for forensic examination, while the victim’s family was traced through her mobile phone found at the scene.
Reacting to the tragedy, LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, condemned the increasing rate of fatal road crashes caused by reckless and drunk drivers in Lagos.

He warned that such acts of indiscipline would no longer be tolerated, stressing that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
Bakare-Oki reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to promoting safety through strict enforcement, sensitisation, and collaboration with other security agencies.
