Ebonyi NDLEA Arrests 112 Suspects, Seizes 55.947kg of Illicit in Q1

- NDLEA commander says four persons were convicted, and 59 suspects, comprising 45 males and 14 females aged 21 to 76, received counselling.
- The drugs seized include monkey tail, 11.2 litres/11.2kg, methamphetamine, 0.054kg, bromazepam, 46 tablets, 0.020kg, pentazocine in 84 amps 0.244kg, heroin, 0.014.
- The Command apprehended one suspect in possession of a locally fabricated pistol.
The Ebonyi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported substantial progress in its fight against drug-related offences.
In a statement signed by State Commander Peter Ogar, the Command confirmed the arrest of 112 suspects, consisting of 85 males and 27 females aged 16 to 76, in connection with drug offences during the first quarter of the year.

The arrests and subsequent seizures of 55.947 kilograms of various illicit drugs occurred in multiple locations across the state between January and March.
Out of the 112 individuals arrested, Ogar clarified that the figure included drug dealers, users, and traffickers.
Additionally, four persons were convicted, and 59 suspects, comprising 45 males and 14 females aged 21 to 76, received counselling.
In an alarming development, the Command apprehended one suspect in possession of a locally fabricated pistol.
Commander Ogar expressed the Command’s unwavering dedication to combating drug abuse and called for increased support from stakeholders to address the problem effectively.
As part of its efforts, the Command has organized workshops and sensitization campaigns across the state’s 13 local government areas, primarily targeting youths and secondary school students.

Others were Cannabis Sativa, 43.582kg, Tramadol tablets, 0.004kg, tramadol 100mg (1189 capsules), 0.400kg, diazepam 988 tablets, 0.207 and other psychotropic substances grossly weighing 55.947 kgs in all.
